Glasgow Chronicles: Lost Luggage, West End Wonders, and Cheeky Encounters

Getting There

The trip started with an hour’s delay at Dulles International due to a snowstorm. After a layover in Dublin, where I faced intense screening, I finally landed in Glasgow. The excitement dimmed briefly when I realized my bag didn’t make it. It arrived 72 hours later, making the trip’s start quite challenging.

First Impressions

The city’s beauty shone through once I reached Glasgow City Centre via the Airport Express bus. The architecture, cleanliness, and friendly atmosphere immediately captivated me. Despite the initial hiccup, I eagerly explored.

Exploring the West End

Staying in Merchant City provided the perfect non-touristy vibe. The Moxy Merchant City Glasgow offered a modern, hospitable base. A recommendation from Glasgows Sandwich Shop led me to the Botanical Gardens, Kelvingrove Park, and Tennant’s Brewery. With its diverse and vibrant atmosphere, the West End quickly became my favorite part of Glasgow.

Culinary Adventures

Glasgow’s food scene offered a variety from divine pastries at Eusebi Deli to a mixed experience at Yippon. Friendly recommendations and local spots, like the Glasgow Sandwich Shop, made my culinary exploration delightful.

Cultural Highlights

I visited Glasgow Cathedral, St. Mungo’s Burial Site, and The Necropolis, enriching my understanding of the city’s history. The Kelvingrove Art Museum and a walk along the Kelvin River added tranquility to my urban adventure.

Evening Escapades

Glasgow’s underground bars and the lively student energy near my hotel made evenings memorable. From Old Salty’s mouthwatering Chicken Pakora to Cottonrake Cafe’s excellence, every corner of the city offered something unique.

Wandering Through the City

I walked around for nearly an hour and took fantastic photos of Nelson Mandela Square and George Square. And wait, wait, wait—are the heads of those statues covered with traffic cones? (lol) Yes, that is absolutely a thing! There is a whole article about it: BBC Article if you want to learn more

Final Thoughts

Above all, Glasgow’s heart lies in its people—friendly, cheeky, and ever-ready for a good laugh. From lost luggage to culinary surprises, my Glasgow escapade became a symphony of experiences, making it a city etched in memories and laughter.

Well, that’s all for my field trip to Glasgow! And remember, take a field trip, have fun, stay safe, and eat potatoes!

Bye, everybody, have a beautiful time!
